M. Brett Gladstone

Born and raised in New York City, Brett Gladstone completed his undergraduate work at Harvard (Magna Cum Laude) in 1980 and then received his law degree at Duke University. Mr. Gladstone spent eight years on the Board of Directors of the Greater San Francisco Association of Realtors, and is active in the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association.

Mr. Gladstone was formerly associated with the 200-attorney firm of Thelen, Marrin, Johnson & Bridges (now Thelen, Reid, & Priest) and with Griffinger, Freed, Heinemann, Cook and Foreman. Mr. Gladstone makes regular appearances before Bay Area planning commissions, city councils, boards of supervisors, landmarks boards and redevelopment agencies.

His recent published work includes "Limits on Home Building & Lofts Raise Prices for All" (San Francisco Chronicle); "Conversion of Rental Units and Stock Coops to Condominiums;" "Historic Building and Asset Preservation;" "Recent Changes in the California Environmental Quality Act;" and "Allocation of Risk in the Construction Industry."

Mr. Gladstone regularly lectures on a variety of topics, including development entitlements, condominium law, and planned developments.

Over the course of his career, Brett Gladstone has acted as real estate development counsel to large and small commercial and residential projects, including the following recent projects:

  • St. Francis Bay Homes, Executive Park, San Francisco, 463 units
  • Mission Armory Condominiums, San Francisco, 173 condo units
